Because Athletes Are

More Than Their Performance

Exploring identity and self worth challenges faced by athletes

You’ve spent years grinding, training, competing, and pushing your body to the limit. But no one teaches you how to handle the mental side of the game. Anxiety, identity struggles, perfectionism, injuries, or just feeling “stuck” on and off the field or court can throw everything off, including your focus, your confidence, your relationships, and even your day-to-day life.

At Carolina Counseling for Athletes, we specialize in supporting athletes—current and retired—who are navigating pressure, expectations, identity, and self-doubt. We understand the unique mental and emotional demands of sport and the toll they can take on performance, confidence, and overall well-being. This is not just sport psychology.

Our approach is relational, practical, and grounded in the belief that you already have what it takes. Together, we address what’s slowing you down, strengthen your mental game, and build skills that support growth, resilience, and well-being on and off the field. Because you are more than your performance.

Being an athlete isn’t easy, and you don’t have to do it alone. Our athlete-focused therapists understand what too much pressure can do to your mental health and performance. If you aren’t sure how to move forward, reach out to us today. You don’t have to continue feeling like you are drowning in expectations.

Welcome to Carolina Counseling for Athletes

Sport Specific Therapy for Athletes in Charleston, SC

Carolina Counseling for Athletes was created for you—the athlete.

I started Carolina Counseling for Athletes after years of working with athletes who looked fine on the outside but felt overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected on the inside. I saw how often mental health and performance were treated as separate things, when in reality they’re deeply connected.

At Carolina Counseling for Athletes, we treat the whole athlete. That means we talk about what’s happening in your sport and in your life—because both matter.  We pride ourselves on offering versatile clinical care with warmth, energy and  the ability to connect with clients authentically.

So whether you are here for yourself, or someone you love,  we would love to join your team. We are ready when you are.

Take the First Step Toward Confidence, Mental Well-Being & Peak Performance

You don’t have to keep pushing through the same struggles and hoping they’ll eventually go away. With the right support, you can learn to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and develop tools that actually help.

Maybe you’re not sure if therapy is right for you. Maybe you’ve never talked to a therapist before. Or maybe you’ve tried counseling in the past and it didn’t feel like it was designed for someone like you.

That’s okay.

A consultation is simply an opportunity to talk with us, tell us what’s going on, ask questions, and see if we’re the right fit. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you reach out.

You spend so much time investing in your sport. It’s okay to invest in yourself, too.
